    Delivery Confirmation Problems?

A few days ago I read somewhere on these forums about someone having trouble getting delivery confirmation on a package because of package thickness...at the time I wrote it off as a postal service employee being lazy. Today, I went to the post office to send three packages out and when I asked for delivery confirmation (as I have millions of times on bubble mailers with only a few cards inside) the postal service employee told me they were too thin and the only way I could get DC was by sending through priority mail.

My question is, is this procedure standard? Have I just been missing out on something for all these years, and this is just a dumb question? Or is this just some new policy that is starting to be implemented?

Sorry in advance if this is a lame question.

My postmaster told me a couple of weeks ago, that the envelope must be at least 3/4 of an inch wide in order to get DC.

So its just a person by person basis? I suppose that this post office employee was one that I had never dealt with.

Yes I have been told the same thing from my post office. Try a couple of packing peanuts (usually 2-3 depending on what shape and kind they are) in your bubble mailer.....very light and take up the needed space to make the package fit withing the Post office rules. Hope that this helps.

It not really a person to person basis if you want to push it. They have a placard that shows a 3/4 inch slot. If it can fit thru there it to thin. If not then it good enough for d/c. You can request one of those from your postmaster is you take the time. Or you can ask them to get one out as each station usually has one.

I don't get it... does this mean that you can't buy Delivery Confirmation on a letter, either?
