    ARCA Race at Daytona: Recap

Wow, was this an exciting 1st race OR WHAT?
    Had some trouble early.
We had a flip on lap 28, including a flip by Jill George, who went to avoid the wreck going through turns 3 & 4, and got on the apron, shot back up, and flipped pretty hard into the fence/sb.
    Luckily, shes okay.
Later in the race, Danica got bumped and went through the grass.
She lost control, slid back onto the track, and she made a DAM good save!
After some beating and banging, Barry Fitzgerald got loose coming out of turn 2, slid sideways and the back went around on him; he flipped 3 times on the concrete, and 2 times in the grass.
    He was also alright.
Then, coming to 3 to go, a 2 or 3 car spin happened coming out of 4, when a car had blown an engine apparently, and a chain reaction happened.
Now, the girl we've all hoped would do good; Danica Patrick.
She had a strong race all night, even saved the car when she got bumped and spun.
    She finished a strong 6th!
Hope this helps some of you who missed it!
    Now, I gotta go.
    BUD SHOOTOUT TIME BABY!!
GO DALE JR AND MARK MARTIN!!

Great recap! Danica was flat flyin' those last laps. She should do the NNS race, because she had a lot of confidence coming out of there, but they are nowhere near the competition of the NNS drivers, since most are also cup drivers.

Good luck with that Bud Shootout! JEWNYER!

    I'd say it was more than a bump...Piquet had no idea Danica was under him and drove right down on her. Granted its his first stock car race too so stuff like that is going to happen. Which I'm actually glad it happened, for several reasons;

    1. She got some great experience in what it feels like to get hit and she reacted to what Tony Jr. was telling her to save the car, which will give her confidence in him.

    2. She showed she absolutely has skills in the way she saved that car at 180 miles an hour.

    3. That incident really got her fired up...I think she had been a bit tenative earlier, but after the spin, it kinda jolted her and she let instinct take over.

    4. She was forced to make several pit stops to work on the car, which gave her practice under race conditions with the pits, but also she got to see her crew give her a car that was capable of getting back to the front, again, building confidence with her team.

I'm gonna tell you though, the way she walked down the lead pack was impressive. And then going fender to fender with Carmichael to the checkers was awesome!

All in all, I think this was a GREAT first race for Danica...she has to have a lot of confidence coming out. Not sure how I feel about the Nationwide race...I'd hate to see her lose that confidence by getting beat up by the Cup guys. I bet if you asked her tonight, she'd say hell yeah! Come Monday, who knows?

    C'ya!

typical ARCA wreckfest-Danica did a great job-I expected her to do good and she lived up to that. Nice save and good racing throughout.
