ha! there was a post in the football forum a couple months back about a guy selling on ebay a 1999 walter payton on card auto, not sure the exact year but I believe he passed a couple yrs before that, and I think the guy replied to someone on here that it was facsimile* auto, but he clearly stated in the description it was an auto.

I asked the seller where he got the autographs from. This is his response:

Aloha,
I bought from a very large estate sale of a collectibles dealer in business for 25 years, included was a very large amount of racing collectibles.
These were among his select group of autographs from a wide variety of sports. The collector was active in the Atlanta and Florida regions and got all of them himself at the races, he would bring the driver's cards or racing magazines with him and ask them to sign. The box (and most of the collection) had not been opened for 12 years.
