Playoff Box - Which One?
I kinda changed my mind on starting my football collecting career. I think I like the looks of the Playoff series the best (and since they are Donruss I already know their quailty and customer service are good based on past experience). So, the question is what do I buy? I've looked at everything including some 1999 boxes (would love to build a set with all those great rookies). I've looked at 2003 Honors ($62) and Absolute Memorabilia ($75). I really like that 03 Absolute Memorabilia box. I am also considering buying two boxes of 2004 Honors ($64) or possibly waiting for Contenders to come out (price unknown). I'd like to hear your thoughts on these products. I am looking for decent return on my dollar, sharp looking cards, good chance at gu and especially autos, but also a base set I could finish off. My range is somewhere up to $125 or $150, but if I can get two good boxes for that money versus one good box of a higher priced item, then that's fine - just looking for the best value.
One more thing - thinking about a 2004 signature tin - any luck with these? Those 6 sig cards are sweet!
Thanks. BTW - Prices are from DA Card World

I personally have really like the 04 Honors product. You can pick boxes up in the $50-60 range. I've opened 3 boxes and had 2 hot boxes. Each hot box has an insert, parallel, rookie or memorabilia card per pack. My last one had 2 rookies, 6 memorabilia cards and a bunch of #'d inserts. Plus if you're lucky enough to pull one of the Prime Signatures preview autos they are really nice, or a rookie hidden gem auto. I personally don't like the absolute memorabilia line, i feel it is over priced for what you get. Just my opinion tho. Take care.

Thanks for the eBay tip. Prices on the Bay for boxes are usually comparable to DACW when you figure they give free shipping on orders > $100 and you'll typically pay $10 for two boxes from the bay. So, if it balances it out, I prefer to buy from a "store" instead of waiting for the uncertainty of an auction.
That being said, you can usually get good deals if the auctions end at unusual times - such as 11 AM on a Wednesday morning. I scored two boxes of 2004 Playoff Honors for $110 shipped. That's a good deal. I'll let you guys know how the breaks go down - pray for a hot box!
