Greatest duos and trios
The nicknames thread and a response to it made me think of some of the great duos of NBA history. I thought it woud be easier to compare if we divided in to generations but that's your choice of course.
80's/90's Duos
1. Michael Jordan/Pippen
Batman and Robin/A and B/1 and 1A
There there were a few people who used to think that Pippen was even as good as Jordan or even better - that's a bit much but he was great too.
2. Stockton/Malone
Great players and great chemistry between them. They both had a high basketball IQ, esp. Stockton, and playing together for so long helped them know where the other would be on the court and what he would do.
3. Almost forgot Shaq/Penny during the mid 90's
-both had incredible athleticism during the early part of their career and got by Jordan and the Bulls in the playoffs but were schooled by Olajuwon in the Finals
2000's
1. Kobe/Shaq - They both contributed equally to the 3 championships together but eventually their egos (esp. Kobe's got to be too big and they both wanted to be the main banana so the Lakers traded Shaq as Kobe was younger)
2. Shaq/Wade - Shaq was on the downside a little but the trade to Miami helped rejuvenate him and together they came from behind to beat Dallas and win the championship
3. Kobe/Gasol?
4. ?? can't remember (think of) any now - oh maybe Carter and McGrady but I'm a little biased, being a Raptors fan
Best trios
1. Jordan/Pippen/Horace Grant - Horace Grant was an underrated(underrecognized) player who provided them with a rebounding prescence and toughness that they needed. Pippen was a little intimidated by the Knicks in the playoffs when they were trying to bully him and Jordan went face to face with Xavier McDaniel and the others to let him know he was not going to allow that.

Dual's,
90's - Kemp/Payton were very awesome to watch and potent.
Trio's
00's - Bucks, Glenn Robinson/Ray Allen/Sam Cassell. Awesome team, just really got screwed by the refs and Sixer's team that went on to the finals.
90's - Jordan/Pippen/Rodman -right up there with the Jordan/Pippen/Grant as well if not better.
90's Bogues/Mourning/LJ - also fun to watch.
90's Run TMC - Tim Hardaway/Chris Mullin/Mitch Richmond
2000's - Ray Allen/Garnett/Pierce
2000's - Parker/Duncan/Ginobli <-- won many championships

Early '00s Kings team of Bibby/Peja/C-Webb
And the 80's-90's Cavs duo of Daugherty/Price was pretty solid.Last edited by nadeau01_johnson48; 02-15-2010 at 05:25 PM.

I'd say Divac or Peja more than Hedo. I think he averaged like 6-7 points in his three years there lol.
