George Karl Battling Cancer
Sad news... His team is having a great year. I wish him the best and hope he gets better.
George Karl is battling cancer again. Story on the mothership should be up shortly. Won't keep him from coaching, but he'll miss some games.

That's awful. Hopefully they can get rid of it fully. Wasn't he diagnosed with cancer in the last few years?

Sad news indeed. He has done an excellent job with the Nuggets.
Just scanned the NBA.com story. I did not realize that it was a recurrence (different area though) and his son also has cancer (thyroid - also located in the neck area - genetic?). Before I read that I was wondering if he smokes or used to smoke. I just heard a man (on TV) saying how he stopped chewing tobacco because it gave him cancer and he had to have part of his lip removed.Last edited by wrafman; 02-17-2010 at 01:43 PM.
