Someones about to buy a FAKE Gretzky RC for 300$ISH! Report!
it makes me sick to my stomach to see this happening, i sent two reports to ebay just then when i saw it, as if they will even check but someones about to pay top dollar for this counterfeit. eBay blacklists gretzky RCs that are ungraded, so why is this one gone all the way through? not even typo'd or anything

Clearly fake, everything is missing like the yellow dot by shoulder, two blue lines on back, and i mean look at the condition, for a Gretzky RC you would give that one a BGS 11
Everyone go to the link and hit report, maybe if they see enough they will catch it and shut it down before the 2 hours is up and before someone gets completely ripped off

You would think that hardcore Gretzky collectors would be all over this card. Look at the corners and edges and the centering. Perfect. Alarm bells must have gone off in their minds or else this card would be going at a much higher price than that.

yes 100% sure, its lacking all the obvious marks, like i said the yellow dot by shoulder, red dot by skate and the 2 blue lines by the little hockey guy on back. And how often do cards from that set ever have 4 perfect straight edges? hardly ever, as they used different machinery back then so the cuts werent as clean. If that were real, the price would be in the 1000s by now, as it would get a BGS 10, and sell for about 20,000 or higher
people who are bidding now are seeing it like this, and think they are getting a huge steal, when they are getting something they can pick up for 5$

Why would a seller with 100% feedback be selling a fake Gretzky Rookie card, make not sense but that's exactly what is happening here. Plus it's being sold at none peak hours which make it look even more suspecious as not alot of hardcore e-bays by stuff at 1pm in the afternoon...

Even good sellers come across bad cards every once and a while. SHould the good seller take the hit because someone thinks its fake? No. SHould they mention something about how they are unsure of its authenticity? Yes. Do you get 100% feedback by being 100% honest? No. So theres your answer.
This is why I love ripping wax.

This is not thinking this is a fake, it is a fake, i've seen hundreads of Gretzky RC's and never seen an authentic OPC without the yellow dot on the shoulder area, Topps yeah. I have a handfull of these "Fakes" at home, they look exactly the same..

Not all genuine OPC gretzky cards have the double lines on the back. Also, I believe that the Topps gretzky RC is missing the yellow dot on the shoulder:

In this case, the back clearly says OPC though, so the dot should be there. I wish I could agree that its fake for sure. I just can't see the other tell tales from the resolution of the photo, like the speckling of the ice or the print quality of the lettering. But the lack of a dot is a big big caution.
At the same time, the resolution of the picture isn't good enough to confirm its real either.
In the end, I wouldn't buy this. I'm not sure I could recommend anyone else to either, without a much better photo.
Final price - US $509.0!!!!
For the poor sucker who bought it, I really hope that is the real deal.
Cheers,
reoddai
