Pierce considering time off to rest thumb

Celtics captain Paul Pierce may take some time off to rest his injured right thumb.

Pierce, appearing on Mohegan Sun's Sports Tonight on Comcast SportsNet, said the sprained thumb remains an issue and might require an extended break from action.

"It's a little banged up right now, so it's something I'm going to think about -- taking a few days off and letting it heal," said Pierce.

Better to take time off now than in April/May/June. Hope it doesn't linger for him.

He is not really hurt. Didn't he supposedly break his leg or something earlier this year? He was back a week later.

Then there is this where pierce couldn't even get off the court on his own and had to be carried away by four people. He then returned to decide the game. Instead of banning straws they should make a rule that if you can not get off the court on your own you are deemed unfit to play for at least the rest of the game.

This injury is most likely real. Reminds me of when Shaq didn't play because of his little toe. You can't really respect how much it hurts. Hope he gets better soon.
