    Card buying in general????

I have been collecting cards for about 20 years I stopped for about 4 and just over the last year gave started to pick it up again. The cards have changed so much over the past few years that I really don't even know were to begin. I have bought packs, retail, boxes, and one or two hobby boxes and I have had about the same luck with all of them. Nothing huge but a few ok pulls I am not trying to go bankrupt but I would Luke to get a few good pulls what would everyone suggest buying???
Thanks for your input, like my profile says I am new at this forum stuff but am really excited to start trading.

First off, welcome to SCF! Nice username too Do you collect KG, or did you? If you do still collect him, I have a ton of dupes, if you are ever interested in trading your dupes for mine. I can also point you in the direction of other Garnett collectors on here if you would like. Feel free to PM me for more information, as I don't want to hijack your thread from the get-go!

Back on topic, I'd suggest buying singles, or lots of hits, if that's what you are after. Boxes have the ability to be hit or miss, and chances are that you won't get that huge pull, as there are so few of those huge pulls out there. If you still want to buy a box though, I would suggest something along the lines of 0708 SPX (hit per pack with the chance of a Durant RC auto) or 0910 Upper Deck (3 boxes per case have a hit per pack; otherwise, 4 hits per box). Both are under $80 for a box, I believe.

I would recommend buying boxes from a dealer...not just from any random seller on ebay, or anywhere for that matter, unless you can see that the box has the original wrap on it in person. If you're looking for singles/lots of cards, try the buy/sell forums here, or ebay. As for the pictures, you have to use the {IMG} {/IMG} codes, with brackets [] instead of the {}. That allows them to show up in threads instead of just links...but, you also have to check the posting rules down in the bottom left corner of the page...if it says "IMG code is on", you can post pics...if it's off, you can't.

As for Jazz, I do have some Jazz, I'm sure. Shoot me a PM when you have a chance and we can work out a trade, I'm sure! Thanks!

Also have some Jazz stuff as well, looking for Bulls stuff in return please PM me when you have everything set up!

If you want to build your collection faster, I do recommend picking up singles for a month or two first and then only breaking boxes occasionally. You can definitely get several very nice PC items for the price of a hobby box.

Like you I have been collecting for many years, on and off. I think it is a wise idea to take breaks for a couple years, as you have. It is not difficult to get back in(start again). Card collecting can be too time-consuming and addictive, not to mention expensive.
I have not bought any packs or boxes for a few years. From what I have seen and read though I would recommend these boxes in your price range from this year:

    09-10 Panini Prestige
    09-10 topps
    09-10 Upper Deck

Often if you buy boxes from previous years they are discounted. You just have to shop around a little.

Been collecting over 20yrs here, took about a year off awhile back. This hobby changes daily, soo many options out there.

    A few tips:

    1) Plan on what/who you are wanting to collect. Always keep that your priority!

    2) Boxes/Cases are the devil, you lose more than you win a majority of the time. If you want to get a little crazy participate in a group break, they are fun. TRUST ME

    3) Singles are the way to go, easiest way to get exactly what you want. Your safest bet.

    Good Luck
