Need vintage collectors help!

Where do i begin? My wife's grandfather is 95 and was put into a nursing home. Today we went to his house to clean it out. Boy am I shocked and surprised with what I came home with.

For you vintage collectors, should I get them graded or sell them as is? The condition to me are really nice and will scan them later to show. A tiny bit of fuzz around the corners on some but other than that they are in really good shape. I also got a signed stick with Leaf players. Red Kelly, Mahovlich, Bouwer etc as well as a Blackhawks signed stick. Hull, Hall, Makita etc.

My wifes grandfather used to work at the old Carling brewery besides Maple Leafs Gardens and the players would come in to get there beer and sign a bunch of stuff for him.

Any help would be appreciated!

You will get more if they are graded. Anything over $100 i would grade

Obviously it's hard to tell exactly from a scan..... but they look like they're in fantastic condition. I'd get them graded. Anything that old, with those kinds of BVs (like another poster said - at least all the ones with $100+) I would have graded. If you're getting high grades on them (8+) you'll get far more cash for them.

I can't believe that I'm looking at some cards that I have, except that mines are in bad conditions, most of them lol
I also have the Pit Martin RC #1 and Pierre Pilote #59, and many more
Maybe we should complete this set together lol...

I would not just get them graded brcause they have a book value over a $100 and here is why. First almost everything you have is over a $100. If you truly want the best return go to PSA and find out the population report for those cards. If you see a certain player that has a low report on a higher grade that would be the cards I would send in. As it could be a lower value card but when graded if there only a few choices of that common player set collectors might bid it up to over book to 2 to 4 times the Book Value. Hence, making a $50 card more valuable than say the $100 card if it graded higher. Throw a $400 card into that scenario and it could be worth more than a $750 card.

Study your population report so you can get the best return on your find. Also, might want to send one or two of your best to see what grade they fetch. Also, might want to buy a loupe or magnifying glass to look for the grading conditions as well.

Need any help just ask as many will give you advice to help you out. A very nice find and hopefully the funds can help your wife grandfather. As this set has a nice setbuilding following you should do fine.
