    Maple Leaf Sports in Calgary

Where is it and would you say they are the best one to buy from in Calgary

I am only in town for a few more days (working overnights) but will have Thursday morning to check them out when they open......just need to find them - I believe they are close to Brentwood

I am near a shopping center with Safeway, Pizza Hut, Bed Bath & Beyond, and I believe London Drugs

    Any help is appreciated.....

Hey, interesting thread here... I was actually out visiting a friend in Calgary last summer, and while there (for 6 weeks), the thought naturally occured to me that I should check out the local hobby shops. Maple Leaf Sports was the only one I found and went to. They were a bit tricky to find, but I think you've got the right area in mind (north end of the city for sure.. I'd be guessing NW quadrant of the city), north of McMahon... near Northwood or Brentwood or one of those streets.

Their prices on packs was decent, and their prices on boxes was standard. No deals, but no rip-offs either. I remember being very underwhelmed by their singles. If you go, go for the ripping, not for the singles! I also remember the total lack of attention or personality the store owner/operator showed. My friend and I were the only ones in there (not a big place), and my questions seemed to annoy him more than anything. I wasn't too impressed with that!

I believe I bought 4 packs of SPA and left it at that. I ended up pulling a Derick Brassard FW RC, too, so here's hoping the out-of-towner mojo is still in effect!

Summary: Good if you're craving a pack rip or box break, but even if you happen to miss out on going, I wouldn't say you're missing out on a great opportunity or anything. You probably get much better prices in Cali anyhow. :)

    Hope that helps!

I went here the last time I was in cowtown. They seemed pretty good and the guy working there was knowledgeable and didn't mind a BS session either. They have changed locations since the last time I was in but they had a good selection of boxes on the shelves and a lot of nice singles. It may be a little further than you were looking to go but if you take the deerfoot and get off on bowbottom trail you can be there fairly quickly.

Thanks for the help - I want to check it out (always nice to see how LCS are in different cities) but not sure due to my hours of sleep vs their open hours....

I will post if I get anything
