In an attempt to lasso n more collectors, Press Pass has joined forces with the PBR and introduces 8 Seconds. The base set features a myriad of riders old and new. It also focuses on some of the daredevils who "fight" the bulls to allow the riders to get away as well as a few of the most popular bulls in the circuit. The vibrant photos capture the action and excitement these men and bulls produce. There are 100 cards in the base set.
For those looking for a lot of inserts, you will not find it here. There are only two insert sets. The first is a 9-card set called Belt Buckle. It features a few of the best in the PBR in action on a belt buckle. The buckle encompasses most of the card. The other set is Spur Crazy. This shows off the riders as well with a pair of spurs used as the background over the series of 12 cards.
There are an abundance of relics and autos in each box (3 of each on average). The relics from rider worn items such as shirts, hats and gloves. There are different levels for the autos for that extra chase for specific collectors.
Press Pass 8 Seconds is a well-done first release for the PBR. It showcases the men and bulls without going overboard with ridiculous amounts of parallels and you get a full base set in a box. The low amount of insert sets keep things interesting as you don't have to invest a lot to complete them. However, it does take away some of the fun as half the packs do not contain a chase card. Also, would have been nice to see the belt buckle cards done as a die-cut instead of a full card. As for the relics and autos, six total hits for the price point is simply amazing and attractive. But when you don't have much to go after in a box, most will just look elsewhere to pick up the cards they want.
Once again, I'd like to thank our wonderful sponsors at Press Pass for giving us the opportunity to open and review this release. For information on their products, you can check them out at www.presspassinc.com.
