Another UD Champs Question
Hi all,
I had a question about the price of the new UD Champs boxes. It has been drastically lowered from last year's boxes. An average of the 08/09 boxes is at $125 but the 09/10 seems to be coming out around $75.
A quick look at the sets:
Fossil Cards:
08/09 - 1 per case
09/10 - 1 per case
Hall of Legends:
08/09 - 1 per case
09/10 - 2 per case
Mini Sigs:
08/09 - 2 per box
09/10 - 1-2 per box
Mini Threads:
08/09 - 1 per box
09/10 - 2 per box
Mini Rookies:
08/09 - 3 per box
09/10 - 5 per box
Reg Rookies:
08/09 - 12 per box
09/10 - Taken out of series
Natural History Cards:
08/09 - 8 per box
09/10 - 10 per box
Packs per box:
08/09 - 24
09/10 - 20
Box Price:
08/09 - $125
09/10 - $75
It seems virtually the same except that this year's set will feature more minis and the removal of the regular sized rookies. Does anyone know why the price seems to have been lowered so much. I realize that there are less packs per box, but does this really alter the price so drastically? Any insight would be great.
Cheers,
Chris

These two are for 09/10

I realize that ebay isn't the best source... possibly about the same credibility as Wikipedia, but it's all I have besides a few others.
Cheers

Maybe it's cheaper because they took out the fossils?

They didn't take out the fossil. Less autos and less packs. It was overpriced last year. This year the price point looks better. I hated the regular rookie but loved the mini rookies so glad UD took them out. Maybe UD actually made this set better. Just maybe.

I think the initial price point (here in Vancouver, it was about $100-110 a box at release if I remember correctly) was fair last year given that the entire print run was only 699 hobby cases. From a secondary market perspective, maybe not so much? But the price point made sense all things considered. I can only assume that at $75 a box this year, there are more cases being produced.

well i mean they are almost the same as some give and some take, but 4 less packs also should drop the price a bit, even though the math works out to almost 6$/pack for 08-09 and 3.75/pack for 09-10
