i send in a long PWE and put a small (1/2 size) PWE inside it with the card and note
id send to ward first, as i saw a buch of success on SCN last season, then manning w/ a 5.00 donation, and then woodson, as he seemed pretty good last season

Thanks for the input! That was actually my intentions. I'm gonna send to Ward first and hope for the best.

ya, i go from hardest to get to almost automatic on multi-player cards, that way if you dont get it back from 1st player, thats all, where as if you send to 2 guys, have em signed, then never get return from 3rd guy that isnt very reliable, you would have to start over

I agree. I'd go Manning first, since he is iffy. If you go Woodson first, then Manning doesn't respond, you lose out on Woodson's auto. I do alot of multiplayer stuff, and usually go this route. Also, if sending to their home, I send out a letter asking their permission to send the item, as well as offering a cash "donation" before I send the item. If I get a response to my letter, I figure they will send my item back as well once I've sent it.

Okay cool, thanks for the input. I don't think I'll be sending to any homes, however. I'll go to Manning's foundation and Woodson/Ward c/o their respective teams.

i know some guys on another thread get lots of old 70s topps league leaders stuff signed....be sincere in your hand-written, not typed letters, i always mention a great moment in their career or something.....i usually send to a player if i see EVERYONE is getting returns, like i sent to peyton around that time last year when ALMOST everyone was getting therir item back signed. hope this helps! and if u dont believe my advice, check out my ttm success thread!

Okay thanks for the advice. I was definitely going to do hand-written notes to the players mentioning something great about them. I just didn't know if they actually take the time to read through them and/or read exactly what you're wanting them to do. I have a feeling if I send it to the first guy and they don't read what I'd like them to do (which is sign just over their name) they'll put their auto across thewhole card.

Okay guys, I'm planning on having this sent out tomorrow. Here is the plan. Tell me if any of this sounds wrong...

-Sending it off to Hines Ward first, cause he's probably the hardest to get of the three.
-Sending the card in a toploader, inside an envelope with another SASE enclosed.
-Putting a brief but descriptive note inside thanking him for signing the card and asking him to sign it just on his name.

Last question, do you think I should include a sharpie or something? I have a small one that I could include. I just don't wanna get it back signed in ballpoint pen or something, ya know?

I wouldn't send inside a toploader, for two reasons:

    1. If you are using a plain white envelope, you run the risk of the machine catching the corner of the toploader and ripping open the envelope losing your card. I had it happen to me on a 50 / 50 deal and the PO will tell you not to use toploaders unless your using a padded bubble mailer. I never use a toploader, I always fold up the smaller envelop in half and stick it inside the bigger envelope and drop the card in the fold of the smaller one. You could always stick the card between two index cards for protection.

    2. You always run the risk of the player signing the toploader and not taking the card out to sign it. Might sound stupid but it's happened. Also, if they do take it out and put it back in to quickly after signing, you run the risk of it smearing.

Of course it's all personal preferences as to how you send it out but those are a few downfalls with using toploaders for TTM.

    None the less, good luck!!

Never thought of that. Thanks for the advice! I'll keep you all posted on if it comes back to me!
