Who will be the next 49ers head coach and GM?
York's got a short list of candidates and he wants a head coach with NFL experience and a winning record (also could be a college head coach). How about Pete Carroll ???

I would like to see Pete Carroll and Matt Leinart come aboard, but I don't think Carroll should leave USC. He's building a dynasty and has most of his team returning. I would think it would be Romeo Crennel(Pats defensive coordinator) or Jim Fassel. Crennel would be a perfect fit.

i think it will be carroll.... he will get to keep his QB and coach where he has expressed he wants to be.. the NFL.. the only problem. they arent sure, according to ESPN, they can keep him under the 5 million cap

You would think it would be Carroll and Leinart in SF, but I only think it will be Leinart. I agree with Leftyshan about Crennel and Fassel being the next coach. I think Carroll will wait for the next team to come to L.A., in the next year or two.

Let me just say this about Leinart, I think it would be a big mistake for the Niners to use their #1 pick on him. They are better off trading it for multiple 1st rounders and gathering a plethora of talent to add to this dismal team they have. Leinart is not going to help the situation any if he is without any sort of WR, RB, and offensive line. If a team is willing to give up a few good picks for the #1 the Niners should pull the trigger. Can always make a run at Drew Brees if the Chargers opt to go with Philip Rivers.

I both hope and think it will Carroll. I agree that the cap will be the big issue.
