Does Eric Lindros Belong in the Hockey Hall of Fame?
BY: Jonathan Fogg
Eric Lindros is eligible to be enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010, and the Selection Committee faces a formidable task in deciding whether he belongs.
The biggest question heading into June's Hockey Hall of Fame induction vote is whether Eric Lindros, the player once famously dubbed “The Next One,” will earn a spot among the hallowed names of the game. After a star-crossed career in which he never fully met those ethereal expectations, Lindros is eligible for induction into the Hall, and debates have been raging in hockey circles about whether Lindros merits recognition.
There are two interpretations of Lindros' career – according to one side, Lindros was a tour de force the likes of which the game had never seen; beyond starring in the NHL, he tore up the Ontario Hockey League and helped lead Team Canada to a pair of Olympic medals. According to his detractors, Lindros was a fragile failure known more for selfishness that success and whose parents perpetually meddled in his affairs.

I think the whole Nordiques fiasco should seal the deal for him not getting accepted.

I wrote an article for a friend's blog site about this topic a couple of years ago, I might try and dig it up.
My answer - YES. Lindros for a stretch of (about) 3 years was the best player on the planet, and was a very good player for over a decade. His PPG average ranks him amoung the all time best. His career was cut shot by injuries, but that didn't stop the the HOF from putting Cam Neely in there (Neely was a great player, but Neely at his best was not nearly as good as Lindros at his best).
I'd even argue against it, if the HOF had kept really high standards over the years (i.e. how tuff it is to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame). That isn't the case either. If Clark Gillies and Bernie Federko can get in, Eric Lindros should be in.

I'll bet his parents will make formal complaints to the nhl to get him in!
