Is a change in scenery all a struggling player needs sometimes?

In this case, I am referring to Peter Mueller. After 22 goals and 54 points in his rookie year (in 81 games) he has gone downhill. Last year, he got 13 goals and 36 points in 72 games. Up until the trade, on a much improved Coyotes team with a new coach, he had 4 goals and 17 points in 54 games - in simple terms, he was struggling and even went through a few stints of being a healthy scratch.

Then the trade happened to Colorado - I was actually surprised that Phoenix got as much as they did for him, given his lack of performance. Since the trade, he's had 4 goals and 11 points in 7 games, and a 7-game point streak, which is a complete turn around. I realize it's only been a short time, but that is a drastic improvement.

meanwhile Cheechoo, led the league with 56 goals in 05/06, traded in the offseason to Ottawa, Ottawa put him through waivers, no one claimed him and now he can't even score in the minors
