    Grading for a rookie card...

Hi, I've got a 07-08 Artifacts RC of Carey Price coming in soon, and I was thinking about sending it off to be graded (since it should be in pretty good condition coming straight from UD).

Just wondering if it really raises the value of a card or if thats only really worth it for really high value cards.

You'll definitely want to consider it for two reasons:
    1. It's coming straight from UD so as long as you submit it in that top loader without having touched it yourself, you're very likely to get at least a 9.0, maybe a 9.5 or even a 10.

    2. It is going to be a parallel card. UD printed off waaaay more of the redemption cards than they did the actual cards, plus they used these cards as replacements for other redemptions. You'll be getting a parallel out of either 100, 50, 25, or 10 (if my memory serves correctly) so it will be an incredibly high-demand card to begin with.

While I personally don't care much for grading to get a significantly short-printed card protected with a high grade would be a great move on your part.

To raise the value you would need a 9.5 or higher to significantly raise the card value.

Nice card and best of luck on the grading process.

I agree with both replies so far. Send it in without touching it, as long as when you look at it, there are no visible flaws. If it comes in under a 9.5, it's a waste of time. 9.5 should give you a decent return on the time and money spent grading, and a 10 could as much as double the value of the card.

Artifacts from that year have a rough cut on the edges creating chipping and the gold back makes white spots come out more easilly.
