Yeah, we've had a lot of bad weather as well...but that hardly pertains to this discussion.

you can't get free health care from your parents, but you can remain on your parents healthcare program until you are 26 when it goes into effect.

This is true. I have no problem with this, but by 26 you should have your own insurance, and some parents do not have insurance of their own. I have always thought insurance was another thing you work and strive for even at 26. I have always thought that working hard is how we attain these sort of things. Are the young adults lazy, or is there not any jobs to be had??

I'm 23 and work for a small financial consulting firm that doesn't offer me health insurance, so I have to purchase it on my own. It'll actually help me a good bit.

I didn't have my own regular insurance until I was around 26-27 years old. I did buy a catastrophic plan just in case something huge happened to me. I was just freelancing as I had trouble finding a full time job. It didn't mean I was not working hard. I worked 40+ hours a week, just wasn't on a companies actual payroll.
I actually see more and more companies freelancing and higher temps to get around any laws that require them to supply insurance to employees. The company that I work for has hired temps, contract employees and freelancers for years to keep headcount and benefit costs as low as possible. That's to say that there aren't a lot of employees of the company, but we do use a ton of freelancers.

I think it's important to note that in order to stay on parents healthcare until age 26, you need to be a dependant
