Help with trade expectations
Hey All -
I'm new to the forum and returning to card trading after many, many years unfortunately without any of those great vintage cards.
To get back in the swing I picked up a box of Upper Deck series 1 and series 2. I got some pretty good cards but several that I would be willing to part with.
Was wondering if you guys could help manage my expectations about what kind of trade values I would get from these types of cards. Want to be sure I'm not short changing someone with a trade offer or getting super shorted on the other side.
Obviously it would depend somewhat on the player but in general what could I expect in a trade for these types of cards?
Non-numbered Young Guns
Non-numbered Game Jersey
#/100 UD Exclusives
#/10 High Gloss
#/100 Acetate Rookie Breakout
Hope the questions isn't too general - just trying to get my feel for things.
Thanks!
Jeff

well the YG's depends on who it is, commons about $8, tavares is the most at $100 right now
again game jerseys depends on the player but most might be like a crosby at $80 or maybe a gretzky might book $100 or something
for ud exclusives if just base players 6-20 dollars maybe again depending on who it is,crosby base exclusive might get you the most
HG will depend on who you trade it to as there is no bv on these so if someone is a player collector and wants it bad you could get as much as they want to trade for
rookie breakouts i think they range 20-60 again depending on the rookie, tavares will get more
also if you happened to pull a gustavsson YG or exclusive or HG i would be interested in it, as well as any series 1 leafs YG's exclusives or HG's
hope this helps

Thanks - that does help.
I'm still getting familiar with the site. Looks like I need to set up my inventory manager.
I do have one series 1 YG Leaf - Jay Rosehill. Do you need that one?

go purchase a beckett magizine to learn the hobby.
The inventory manager is cumbersome. 98 % of the traders here will either have a Photobucket site, or a webspawner.com site, or a google spreadsheet, or a link in their signature to one of these sites, or just list their stuff right into the post.Last edited by michiganMax; 03-24-2010 at 02:18 PM.

You can buy a beckett. Some people trade by going by the Beckket value of the card. Some other people use E-bay completed listings and look at the sale value of the card.
Welcome to the hobby!

Thanks for the info guys - I looked at a Beckett when I was at the shop but after buying two boxes I decided I'd spent enough for one day.
Will definitely pick one up next time.
Thanks again for the feedback so far!

find a beckett buddy, thats what most NOT all but most trade by and then figure out who and what you have.after that pc (personal collection) or my pc (personal CHOICE) if you chose to trade because you want that card more and are happy thats all that really matters in the end.a smile on your face when you get and look at the cards you have.with that said plmk when you want to start trading tons of hockey i have chosen to get rid of LOL

Getting back to the hobby is not an easy job. I did three years ago after a 12 years pause. I have to learn back everything! And I am still learning!
Forums like this one are great to learn. Beckett is good too. My best friend, wich I call my bible, since I returned, have been the big Beckett Annual. When I have a card and I don't know wich year or what brand or if it is a parallel, I refer to the Annual. You can also subscribe to Beckett Online Price Guide, wich is as much an help as the annual. But for Inserts and Parallels, I prefer the Annual.
Hope that help.I collect the following:
- Vintage (Stars and RC)
- 2010-11 ITG Decades (Auto, GU, bases)
- Stars from the 1980s (in modern sets)
- Montreal Canadians Legends (bases, inserts, parallels, #, RC, Auto, GU)
- Montreal Canadiens actual players (inserts, parallels, #, RC, Auto, GU)
