    UFC 111-113 Discussion

Heya guys, I'm new here. I'm looking to start collecting the cards, by getting a box of Round2 and possibly the new one that came out. Round1 is way too expensive now(600$) or else I'd go for those first. Still kicking myself for deciding not to get them.

Anywho I thought I'd make a thread about some MMA action instead of just talk about cards.

So what does everyone think about these upcoming cards? I'm actually really excited.

    UFC 111:
Good and exciting card, but I don't think Hardy deserves a title shot yet. On top of it all I think he will be way outclassed in striking by GSP. People keep saying that GSP has holes in his striking and that Hardy is as perfect as it gets in that aspect. The truth is, they are just trying to hype the fights. GSP has one of the best striking out there. He out struck Penn in their second fight, Hughes, Alves, and Fitch. Yeah his wrestling is his best aspect, and yeah Hardy's is striking...but by no means is Hardy a better striker. That's just the only place where he has any chance of winning...and it is very slight.

Shane Carwin may be a heavy hitter and finishes people in the first round...However don't count him out on the ground. Yeah he's fighting Mir, and he should stay away from it...but don't be surprised to hear that he's won 4 of his fights with submission using guillotines and rear nakeds. He probably won't be submitting Mir, but he can at least have some sort of neagate against Mir's submission game. And I know Shane has been working on a lot of groundwork the last few months, getting prepared.

I'm also excited to see Ben Saunders in action again. After his impressive win over Marcus Davis, with the big knees I am expecting fireworks. I mean his only loss is to Mike Swick, who for a while was known for knocking people out quickly. THen we have Jake Ellenberger, who's no slouch. I mean he traded with Carlos in a 3-round war, and lost by decision. He stopped Pyle in the second round, and now we get to see him again. I'm thinking Saunders pulls this one off, but it should be a good fight.

Fitch vs Alves should be a great rematch also, and I think it will end the exact same way it did last time. Fitch will just use his wrestling and pull a decision.

I'm pretty excited about Miller and Bocek, as I think most people are counting Bocek out but he has a huge advantage in submitting Miller.

I've also always liked seeing Kurt Pellegrino fight, so it's going to be good to see how he's going tog o in this fight, after beating Neer.

    Florian VS Gomi:
Great fireworks on this card. Florian and introducing Gomi into the UFC is great. If the fireball kid fights like he did in Pride, he may very well pull a decision victory, but my bet is on Florian pulling this decision out with his striking and ground control. Even if he is on the bottom, I hope he trusts himself, instead of trying to follow a gameplan like he did with Penn.

Also overrated Nelson will finally compete again, and hopefully get shut down by a huge scyscraper of a man, Stefan Struve.

Nate quarry has had some interesting match ups recently so I don't really know why they put him up against Rivera, but I think it will be like feeding a sheep to the lion.

Exciting to see Pearson and Winner in action again. I have wanted to see if these kids belong in the UFC or not. More TUF stars.

    UFC 112:

AWESOME AWESOME card. Two championship fights. Only downfall is that Demian replaced Vitor to fight Anderson. A lot of people are thinking it will end like the Silva vs Leites fight. However Demian knows he has pressure on him to pull of a decent fight, and he's not going to back down to Silva. BTW Don't be surprised if Anderson submits Maia. It's possible, believe it or not.

Edgar vs Penn will also be a great fight. I like Edgar, but too bad he's fighting Penn. This is going to be another Penn vs Sanchez type fight. After this I am guessing Maynard will be next in line.

Hughes takes on another Gracie, in Renzo and this should be a decent war. I bet Renzo will try to stand up at first, but Hughes is going to want to wrestle him. And when he's on his back Renzo will try to submit Hughes. Who knows what will happen there. We might see a repeat of Hughes vs Gracie ^^

I love Paul Taylor and Paul Kelly, so it's good to see them on this card. They always put on a good show, win or lose.

    UFC 113:
Machida vs Rua 2. Good for Rua, he deserves a rematch, and in fact he should be the one defending the belt. Statistics don't lie no matter what argument you have to make. I hope both guys come out knowing they have to finish one another. Although Machida may just come out thinking his last plan worked so he should do the same...who knows.

Koschek vs Daley is going to be fireworks all over the arena. Daley is coming in this fight hungry and angry. He wants to make an example of koschek. Koschek may trust his hands too much, afterall he has improved his striking a lot lately. But if he stands with Daley we might see a Kampmann/Daley repeat.

Sam Stout is always exciting, so him vs Stephens should be a fun fight.

Kimbo returns, finally, but I am skeptical on what we will see. After the Houstan fight, which was sold as a huge brawler match I am unsure of what we could see in this fight. I was impressed with Kimbo'd Slam of Houstan, and how he has improved his overall MMA performance. Hopefully he brings the heat on to his hype.

Other than that I'm excited to see Tim Creuder and Marcus Davis come back to their winning ways. They are awesome fighters, with good heart and good skills, so it will be fun to see them in the octagon once more.

I would love to hear from all of you about anything regarding these cards...Any fights you are excited about, or any opinions on any matches.

I'm heading to UFC 111 ... leaving tomorrow morning from Central PA.

I'm stoked for the GSP-Hardy fight, and I'm with you about the whole striking thing. I think Hardy is in trouble here.

I'm really looking forward to Diaz's move to WW. I want to see him fight some of the tough guys in the division. Markham has some heavy hands so we're just going to have to see what happens.

Also looking forward to Alves-Fitch. Going the other way on this one friend. I think Alves makes the adjustments necessary to pound out a victory. No way he'll put Fitch away, but I think he pressures him the whole fight.

Carwin-Mir - eh ... Don't care who wins this one, although I'd like to see Frank get another shot at Lesnar. Carwin needs to fight Cain Velasquez.

Thanks alot for your responses. Actually this is some of my worst writing, I was running a huge fever when I wrote it, and I was extremely tired...So I'm not too proud of it. Regardless, thank you for the compliment anyways. I love to write, especially reviews, interviews, fight analysis, guides, and previews.

I wish I could see the UFC 111 live, but I will be unable to do so. However since it's the first time a UFC event will be in theaters, I will be attending an AMC near me on that day. I'm glad they reduced ticket prices, and I purchased mine a while back. It should be fun on big screen, with surround sound. Anyone else going to experience it this way?
