Dems Vote For Sex Offenders To Get Viagra

According to a MSNBC report Rep. Senator Tom Coburn put forth an amendment for the health care bill that would prevent Federal funds from being used to buy Viagra and other erectile dysfunction medicines for those who have been convicted of a sex offense. The Dems voted it down and called it a "political stunt"...

Thanks Dems. It makes me a lot happier to know that when I file my 1040E I am ensuring that sex offenders can still get it up...

By 57-42, Democrats rejected an amendment by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., barring federal purchases of Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs for sex offenders. Coburn said it would save millions of dollars, while Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., called it "a crass political stunt."

It may have been proposed as a stunt, but, as stated, what's wrong with it? I don't want any tax money going to buy anyone Viagra/ED medication. If there's something else tagged onto that amendment other than the Viagra/ED part, I'd like to know what that is before I pass judgment on it. If not, if it's just against fed funds for Viagra for sex offenders, who cares if it is a stunt, it should be an automatic yes.

Why would we give ANYTHING to sex offenders let alone Viagra? Why don't we just give weapons to killers and alcohol to drunk drivers?

Perhaps it is, perhaps not. The fact remains that our tax dollars will be spent to purchase erectile dysfunction medication for convicted sex offenders.

The oxymoronic aspect of this is clear. If you are a convicted felon (for ANY felony, even embezzlement, bribery or forgery) you cannot ever purchase a firearm, even if it is just a shotgun to go duck hunting. However, if you are a sex offender, not only can you buy erectile dysfunction medication, the taxpayers will pick up the tab for you!!

Oh yeah, you go Tom! Nice to know the Okie senator has his head on straight. He should propose this again after November. Might have an easier time then.

This is what I am thinking as well, it seems way too strange for something like this to just be by itself and get voted down
