What box would you get $100 or under?
Just recently got back into the hobby with my son and needing advice on what box to get for $100 or under? So many options just wanted some advice from others who know far more than us newbies. TIA

I will get :
1) 06-07 or 07-08 Hoops Hot Prospects , as saw many guys got Mojos like Kobe / L.J. / M.J. autos , also box price is only around USD60+ per box , u might be able to get 2 box for a little bit more
2) if u can get some new packs (fresh boxes from local store) I personally will also consider 09-10 SPGU , as I got some nice jerseys like (MJ / Wilt ...etc) quite easily, also for my past 3 breaks , I got 2 logomen (one is Ben Wallace out of 9 packs & a K.Garnett out of 5 packs) certainly I also hv a killing time that I opened 25 packs with only some small Mojos like Rose / Mayo / Roy / Conley quad auto + some minor mojos ONLY.....but over all its a nice (gambling burst)
Not too recommend for Panini Products......but if u insist , can consider R & S / Threads (dont touch Studio)
Hope it helpsLast edited by CHillyDoggy; 03-31-2010 at 08:49 AM.

Moved to basketball card talk.
I'd second the Prestige recommendation if you are just starting out. Plenty of RCs, a couple of autos & a GU probably. And, this was Panini's first release and it seemed to be loaded from the ones I saw anyway. Maybe they were trying to make a splash with a big first release.Last edited by CHillyDoggy; 03-31-2010 at 08:50 AM.

If you are looking for something fairly current (2010) and under $100, checkout Prestige and Threads. I think they are some of the most FUN boxes to break with the number of RC's, inserts, numbered cards and parallels. I also like '08 UD Rookie Edition (2 auto's/box & 14 packs/box, plus a few inserts). Obviously, a ton of RC's. '08 UD Rookie Edition is around $45/box. Good Luck with whatever you do!!!!

Stay within 08-09 to 09-10 products, too many expired redemptions out there already. Starting out I'd Panini Prestige, Threads, Certified, Rookies & Stars, or Elite would be good choices. To be honest, I would go with 09-10 Panini Rookies & Stars Longevity Box. You get 3 auto's/jersey's per box and they are under $40 each! You get could 2-3 for right about $100 :)

Mavs:
I think it depends on why you are getting into collecting. Set building? Hits? Resale? Player/team collecting?
If set building, I would recommend 08-09 Topps Murad. Hits, take a look at product information sheets and see what has the best insertion rates. Also, if player/team collecting, take a look at a checklist in advance, if you can, to make sure your guy(s) are in that set.
If you want some on-card autos cheap, go 2008 Press Pass. They'll even still redeem expired redemptions if they still have them on hand. You get five on-card autos (chance at a Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo, Beasley, Westbrook, etc.) and a g/u per box, and you can get them from around $40 from Blowout Cards.
Murad is a lot of fun to open and build the set, not a ton of parallels, manageable shortprints, and some good hits. There are some redemptions in the product that may not get filled now, but I don't know if any of the top names of the 08-09 class were redemptions in the product.
Good luck!
