To Bust or Not To Bust

    Here's the question:

    2009-10 MVP (Hobby)

My share of a case was 4 Boxes. I've opened 2 and have 90-95% of the Base set and 22 rookies (none of them the top end rookies). I am trying to complete the set. And the Hart Candidates subset.

Should I bust the remaining 2 boxes to see if I get the rookies I need and Hart Candidates or try and sell the 2 boxes?

The issue will be tons of extra base with the possibility of another base set. What will I do with 2 base sets?

I'm currently on the fence with this one.

With MVP I'd say bust. Not sure there's great resale value and you do get a pretty good bang for your buck.

I'd sell the boxes, and use the proceeds to buy what you need.

Is there still a chance for a case hit in either of the two boxes? If so, I'd bust them. Even if the case hit is gone, you can always trade your double RC's and Hart for those you need. Why worry about extra commons? It's always possible you can trade some if them for other set needs, but extra commons are just a fact of cracking wax.
I trade by BV so please don't reference EBAY.

It's not as if they're going to skyrocket in value in five years if you keep them in sealed boxes. Crack 'em open and move out those RC's while they're still hot.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Bust and donate your extra base cards to a deserving kid.

If you're ever at the Toronto Card Show or if you swing by booth 1503 at the Expo, you can drop them off with us and we'll team bag them and give them to kids at the show. Or we'll sell them and use the proceeds for Kid's Gift Certificates so they can pick and choose their own cards at the show.

Thanks for your input. I will be breaking the remaining two boxes over the weekend. The case hit hasn't been found yet - so even more incentive to do so. I like the idea of donating the mass of doubles I will accumulate. I will post the breaks in that section of the forum.

    Again thanks for the input.
