    Does anyone remember?

Does anyone remember how redemptions were handled in 2000 and 2001? Were all auto cards redemptions back then or did some actually come in the packs?

They came in packs. In fact, even back in 99 they were in packs. The first auto I remember pulling back then was a Tim Couch auto from bowmans best, which coincidentally was also the very first card I ever had graded. Playoff was really, really bad with redemptions back then. I had bought 99 & 00 contenders fb and got about 2 redemptions per box, most of which were never fulfilled. One of the big reasons you see sticker autos now is so there isn't that lead time associated with players signing the cards and returning them, they can make the card, have the player sign a big sheet of stickers anytime and have them ready for the cards months in advance and hopefully, avoid the dreaded redemption.

A lot of us really don't like the sticker autos, but I think we hate redemptions a lot more. At least I know I do.

most auto's came in packs back then. 2000 SPX was the first bad product that i can remember for being mostly redemps for the auto/gj rc. I did however pull the anthony Becht auto/gj/rc and not a redemption. But he was the only one I saw like that.

on another note. I pulled a Cal Ripken Jr auto/gj redemption from 2000 UD Pro's and Prospects baseball. It was expired by a year and a half. I sent it in anyway with a sob story. They sent me a 02 SP Authentic auto/25 of Ripken! I figured they no longer kept the old P&P auto/gj's. 6 months later my Ripken auto/gj from P&P comes in! Holy Cow!! Always pays to try. Thats why I'm taking the Droughns. Bo is in the mail.

I have 2 expired redemption cards from 2000 UD Encore. Plaxico Burress and darrell Jackson. Still waiting on Upper Deck to get back to me and see what I can do with them. Hopefully I can get some replacement cards for them. Upper Deck seems to be ok with that sort of thing. I was waiting on a William Green I sent in for months. They sent me a replacement card of Jamal Lewis auto instead. They also sent me a Kurt Warner GU card in the meantime. I think I made out ok on those.

    linsmaker....

Youre never going to beleive this...

One the way home from the P.O. after mailing your card out I decided to stop at the local hobby shop and picked up a box of 2000 SPX and guess what I pulled?

    Yes, ANOTHER Droughns redemption!!!

So I am sending this one in myself to see what happens. If we dont happen to get our Droughns' cards we should compare to see who makes out better!
