My Thoughts on the Matt Hughes/Renzo Gracie Fight
First, I have to say that I'm not happy the way the UFC puts some of the best talent on the under-cards and places fights like Matt Hughes/Renzo Gracie as a main event. I'm sorry if I anger some Gracie fans, but Renzo Gracie was a complete embarrassment. He was as out of shape as I've ever seen a pro-fighter and had absolutely no business being in the ring (regardless of the leg kicks).
Thoughts on the fight?

I thought that Hughes could have finished him a lot earlier if he had been more agressive. Renzo is a much smaller guy and his standup is nowhere near Hughes' level. I really like seeing the legkicks from Hughes as I've never seen him use legkicks to that extent. I would love to see Hughes make another run at GSP, but he seems hesitant to take on young contenders like the AKA guys. Maybe Hughes just wants to beat up cans like Renzo and run his gym?

Hughes should fight Almeida next...with Almeida being Renzos student and all..
and I definately think this fight deserved to be on the maincard...it wasnt main event, so I had no problems. both very big names in the mma world.

yeah, unfortunately names sell pay per views. so there is no way these guys would have been on the undercard. Renzo hadn't fought in the UFC so there was no way to know just how out of shape he was.

i thought the fight was just OK, i mean i understand the respect they have for each other, and they are friends and all, but when Matt went and helped up Renzo when he knocked him down, I was like come on! You are being paid to fight!!!!!!!!!! Kiss and make up after you beat each other up, and then Matt should have finished him sooner instead of letting it drag out. I have to agree with Mike, It was kind of embarrassing, and so was the Anderson Silva fight!!!!

Im curious to see what happens with Renzo seeing as how Dana signed him to a 6 fight contract. I, in no way, seeing him allowed to fight all 6 of those.

yeah Renzo wont get all 6 fights. I say give him one more, against Baroni or someone like that...maybe Dennis Hallman
