    Gretzky On Card Auto Question/Thoughts

Okay just was curious as to everyones thoughts/feelings on the matter...While I'm not sure if Id ever trade or sell this card (sentimental value) It goes without saying do you think it would fetch a similar amount in Trade value/Sell Value as something obtained from a pack today...I obtained this signature from a charity dinner a couple of years back along with many other autos...However no COA exists for these in person "meet and greets" except for your standard run of the mill card shows... Interested as to everyones thoughts on this... ?

Other then personal value if it was signed by an athlete specifically for you, I find no market value anymore in cards signed like this, just way too many counterfeits out there to make it a good investment.

Your only option to increase the value may be to send it off for autograph grading and authentication. I know Beckett does it, and PSA might offer the authentication service as well.

I have a similar card (Yzerman 83-84 OPC Rookie) that was personally signed, which I would not trade for sentimental reasons. However, if I were ever thinking of trading/selling I would send it off for authentication.

Not sure on a value, but that is a perfect sig from Wayne, never seen a "full" auto of him.

As has already been said - if you were going to trade or sell it, get it authenticated by PSA or Beckett.

To give you an idea - I bought a Maurice Richard IP auto not that long ago. I paid $20 (and got a Beliveau with it). Certified Richard Autos don't sell for under $50, ever.... and many fetch over $100.

I've got tons of IP autos of my own, and I have no interest in parting with them, ever. If I were - I wouldn't expect to get much at all.

You obtained that auto in person from Gretzky? It looks very very much like the auto-pen sigs people get ttm.

I'm going to have to agree with agold on this one. I have about 75-80 Gretzky pack pulled autos with a handful of in-person autos. I have a very good idea of what a gretzky in-person auto looks like (nothing like a pack-pulled card). The auto you have above is the autopen signature gretzky uses for TTM requests. JSA will charge you $20 to authenticate and another $20 slab it and send it back, but in my opinion that card will not come back as authentic.
