Need to Input Guys and Girls...
I was lucky enough to pick up my brothers Backstrom PC recently as needed some cash and wanted to sort of "start over" with a different player. Anyway its a pretty respectable PC with some sick pieces. Problem is I dont know whether I should try to trade it all off, or start (continue) with a new PC.
I have always liked Backstrom alot and actually briefly collected him before my brother, but If I did decide to trade them I could pick up some sweet Vanek pieces.
Heres a link to some of the Backstroms that I have taken pics of:

So tell me what you guys think.

I don't tend to collect by player, even though that seems common these days; mostly whatever I feel is cool. You might just keep your favorite pieces and trade the rest.
Backstrom will be more difficult to collect than Vanek. You probably know better than I, but with Vaneks miserable year, now would be the time to pursue his heavy pieces.
Backstrom, however, is the more talented player, and will probably be worth more longterm for a variety of reasons. This means that his stuff will be harder to collect, too though.
In general I think these days with the glut of stuff around, its just better to concentrate on higher end stuff, since its more satisfying to have anyway. You might consolidate the cheaper stuff into a few more nice pieces for both Vanek and Backstrom, and proceed slowly on both, concetrating on the stuff you like and high end

Thanks for the input Andrew. As for Vanek this year I wouldnt call it miserable exactly. Id say if anything its a combination of his play and the guys around him not doing certain things they need to do. Hes got 23 goals and 25 assists with a + 6 rating. Not exactly Vanek-like numbers but I wouldnt say miserable either. Hes also missed 10 games due to small injuries. He'll get hot in the playoffs and make us all forget about an "off" year.

i say trade it away, with all those nice cards you could probably get some very nice sabres cards in return and maybe even some money

One of the few times I come on lately, and I get to see this post. Nice one.
As far as answering the question Rich, I think that's a win win situation for you....my advice is to hold on to the Backstrom stuff for now, if he gets hot in the playoffs, sell it and you'll get a better return on it, if not, people are still going to want Backstrom stuff since he's proven himself as a great NHL player now, and you could still deal it off next season

I would keep Vanek and trade Backstrom.
Vanek is cheaper, and to collect one player only allows you to land bigger singles as well. And it's easier to search for cards you need when you only have to focus on one player.
I had to make a decision regarding Bogosian and Voracek, I chosed to keep Voracek and I certainly am not regretting it.

Thanks for the input D-Rock. I actually just made a solid deal selling off a chunk of the collection to another Backstrom collector and still have a few of the nicer cards left to play around with.
Very helpful post. One of the main reasons I have been leading towards getting rid of the Backstrom stuff is that having too many PCs can certainly tend to water down each one.

I say trade it away. You're going to get a ton of people after the cards and it frees you to chase other people. I think you should do what I do and pick a young sabres prospect and just go for all his cards. go with a sabre - ennis, enroth, or kassian possibly - and just collect all of their cards. Or go outside your team and pick someone who excites you from any of the 27 organizations that matter ;)
