ST. LOUIS (AP) — - The St. Louis Blues have removed the interim label and named 39-year-old Davis Payne as head coach.
The move was announced Wednesday.

Payne, the youngest head coach in the NHL, replaced Andy Murray on Jan. 2 and compiled a 23-15-4 record in 42 games in his first season as an NHL coach. That included a 12-5-2 home record after the Blues had the worst home record in the league for much of 2009-10 season.

Payne was previously coach of the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate in Peoria, Ill., for two seasons.
