Get out! National parks to hold fee-free week
Get out! National parks to hold fee-free week
It takes $25 per car before visitors driving into Grand Canyon National Park can enjoy its spectacular beauty, but the price of admission is going away -- for just a little while.
The National Park Service is waiving entrance fees at all of its 392 parks for a week starting Saturday as part of its annual National Park Week celebration.
So you won't have to open your wallet to visit such popular places as Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon or Yosemite...
...Earth Day (April 22) and National Junior Ranger Day (April 24) take place during the fee-free week, and there will be activities and events to mark each of the dates.
Visitors should be aware that they will still have to pay the usual fees at campgrounds and concession stands, and any fees collected by third parties.
One of the few government programs I love...always enjoy going out to our beautiful national parks. Get out and enjoy them for free this week!
Remember, some parks are state, not federal, and don't fall under this. Use the Find a Park utility on NPS.org to find a national park near you.

The week is always a good idea for kids to visit some places that are wonderful. Having worked at a few national parks such as Grand Canyon and Sequoia/Kings Canyon these are good areas to see and enjoy.

That's really cool...I guess I wasn't aware they did this...I'd love to see the Grand Canyon...too bad I live nowhere close to it.
