I don't know for sure if there are fake Roys, but I'd imagine anything professionally graded would pass the real or fake test. Of course that means you'll pay more for the card (depending on the grade).

I wouldn't think $35 for an actual Roy rookie would be considered "normal." I'm not a vintage expert, so someone else should weigh in; but that seems low. Is it in reasonable condition?

Unless this guy is looking to give someone one hell of a steal; I'd think something is fishy for thirty five bucks.

$35 isn't unheard of (but $50-75 is probably more realistic). I have heard of counterfeits on the Roy rookie, too. I'm always leery of vintage RCs when I know problems could come up (trimming, fakes, etc.). The slab, for all the drawbacks, does give you some piece of mind.

You can tell if it is a fake in the follwing way: Is there a dot on the top white border just above Roy's mask? If the dot is there it is probably real. However, the Roy RC has known fakes so some have tried to add the dot. The dot is an error from the printing plate.

Also, the blue on the back is slightly different from the blue on the real one.

Here is my Roy RC from OPC and as you can see, you see the dot in the withe border line on top of the mask. You can use it to compare.

I'd say the ebay ones you posted are probably reprints. As stated by others, the black dot and the colour of the blue on the back will often help you identify a counterfeit. I would stay away from anything that is missing the black dot. $35.00 is way too cheap in my opinion for a mint card.

It would be better to buy a graded card in my opinion. You're paying a pretty penny, but at least 1) you're getting an authentic and 2) you know the condition.
