Advice/Discussion needed!
hey guys....im not new to ttm but i was wondering something...
i was doing a little research for an address, and i found one id like to try...its his parents address and as far as i know, has never been tested...so my question is, how do you guys approach writing a players (seemingly) untested address?
im not looking for any "just try it whats the worst that can happen" answers, because i know that not getting a response is the worst that can happen haha
do you you write an initial letter asking the recipient if it is indeed them, and ask if it would be acceptable to send something to get signed? do you send it and include an EXTRA polite LOR?
just looking to generate some discussion, im probably going to test it anyway - no risk no reward!

depends on what your sending.. if its a base card, then no real loss. now if its a jersey, helmet, puck, ect.. then might want to try a base card first, with a nice letter thanking him/her for there time & really appreciate them signing your item.
most athletes allow 2 items a year so if your base card gets signed & it looks good, then try whatever other item you like next..
just what i would do.. :-)

Last year I sent to Graham Harrell using his parents addy and I got my card back signed. I found the addy after reading about his parents. I found Ryan Leaf's addy the same way. If you did your research then you should have no problem if its them or not.

hey guys thanks for the responses
im 99.9% sure its the right people...im not so much concerned about bugging "civilians" so to speak, ive just always felt that a persons home is his private kingdom, and i wouldnt want to impose/bug/annoy...but then again, if they wanted it THAT private, they'd have it unlisted, right?
i guess ill just send a small request first, with a base card or something, then ask in my letter about re-sending a larger item...i have a jersey id love to get signed
thanks again

I'd recommend making the letter very personal about why you're a fan of the player. The parents are probably pretty proud of their son, so if you're gracious and honest, I'd say you'd have a better chance. Sending along an extra something for their collection is a nice touch, too.

good point RockiesFan... always forget about sending along alittle something of the athlete that they may or may not have.. most athletes appreciate & enjoy collectiong there own stuff.
