    counterfeit Mario RC's

I was recently looking in a members bucket and noticed they had a Mario Lemieux OPC RC. Judging from the scan it is not authentic. Centering great, just a little high, cant see the Penguin well enough, and cant feel the paper stock. The bleeding on the left edge is the thing that stands out on this particular scan.

I have been looking for one for myself but have seen so many fakes, some in person, that I will only consider a graded or authenticated card. Currently on eBay these cards are being sold as "Reprints" but there are no discernible marks designating them as "reprints". It's a nicer word for counterfeit in this case.

Last year Beckett ran an article on these and other counterfeit cards and how to detect them. Shortly after one showed up in the local card shop. The shop owner was horrified he got duped. I think he took it out of circulation.

KSA also has this on their website - http://www.ksagrading.com/counterfeit.html

I'm not going to tell the member, not going to start pretending to be able to tell without physically seeing the card, but just a reminder, the cards are still circulating.

I just picked up a Roy and a Lemieux rookie.. Both are Topps though. Guess I should send them in to get graded to be sure they are real.. would really suck if they arent

lemieux opc's you can really tell from the color/digitizing of the front. The fakes are alot darker overall and u can tell my his name its not legit from the way it looks, like it was printed

I pulled one when it was new and it sat in a box until about 1995. Its was ok, and I decided to have it graded. Its more of a Mojo re-pull for me, so I kept it.
