BGS vs BCCG ?
What's the difference between a card graded by BGS, and BCCG? Aren't they both Beckett? So what's the difference?
Thanks in advance.

BGS is Becketts Original grading company, and its well respected. BCCG was an upstart company also owned by Beckett but less respected. In my opinion the reason for BCCG was that Beckett saw the need for affordable unrespectable grading but didnt wanna ruin the BGS good name. BCCG slabs everything they get a 9 or 10, no matter what. Atleast Ive yet to see an 8 or lower BCCG graded cards. Not to mention the 9's and 10's arent perfect.
Hope this helps and remember this is just my opinion,
Ryan

If you go to a card show that beckett is at and grading cards it will be BCCG. It is not the same as BGS. It takes a fair amount of time to have cards graded properly. BCCG was a way for beckett to grade cards fast and make money. I personally do not take a lot of stock in cards graded by BCCG. If I see a card graded BGS I am more likely to pay more money for it.
That is just my 2 cents.

Have you ever seen late night TV where they're selling cards? Graded mint 10. The one's I've seen have been graded by BCCG. You can look at them and tell they're not mint 10. I've seen some that the centering isn't close to 50-50, even with my eyes going bad. Yet BCCG says they're a mint 10.

Guys - that helps a lot. A lot!
Yeah, the whole reason I asked in the first place is because I was seeing so many BCCG 10's on certain cards on ebay. I will take BCCG 10's with a grain of salt. And I certainly won't pay any premium for them. Thanks!

Very informative thread here, guys! I had been considering getting a couple of cards graded at Walnut, California's Frank & Son twice-weekly card show. Now, thanks to these posts, I've learned that I need to confirm whether its Beckett's BGS service or BCCG service. Thanks!
