by Alan Bass Written on April 29, 2010 1. Mike Babcock, Detroit Red Wings
Babcock has only missed the playoffs twice since his coaching career started in 1991 (once in the WHL and once with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim). He has been named a finalist for the Jack Adams Trophy, has been to the NHL’s final four at four different times, has made the Stanley Cup final three times and has won a Stanley Cup. He also has an Olympic Gold Medal on his resume after Team Canada’s showing at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. He has an NHL record of 326-153-87, which translates to a .680 winning percentage; an impressive feat, especially on a Red Wings squad that is slowly aging.
