650 seems a bit too high.

i think you're undervaluing the first printed cards

Hi. I get this all the time as i specifically collect first printed or serial numbered to an athlete's jersey #. There's always a number of people that say there's no real premium for a first printed card. I've found an easy arguement to state my claim.

2004/05 SP Game Used Lebron James/Michael Jordan Dual Game Used
    Jersey Serial #001/100

2004/05 SP Game Used Lebron James/Michael Jordan Dual Game Used
    Jersey Serial #002/100

if you had your choice of which one you'd prefer as long as condition of the card is the same, 99.9% of people would rather have the #001. If you're the 0.01% who would like the #002 instead, i would simply say thank goodness, that's one less person i have to compete against to get the absolute best card. If you can't put any premium on a Lebron James, Michael Jordan, or Brandon Roy first printed card then you see all cards as the same.

i get what you are saying. most of the people i found on this forum find that all cards are equal regardless of the serial number. what you should try to do is sell those cards on ebay as you will find more collectors that are interested in paying the premium for those serial number cards.

    a good comparison

it all boils down to this:

when you see a BGS 10.0 card sell for $10,000 & a BGS 9.5 sell for $500 there's always a group of people that are willing to pay a disproportionate amount of money to have something that is only slighlty better. I honestly think down the road first printed cards will carry a greater premium than they do today as people who purchase in real high-end cards sometimes don't care so much about the money, they just want the absolute best possible version of a card they can get. If you're happy enough with a #002 & have more money in the pocketbook it always just comes down to personal preferences.

    thanks,

    Matt

    Flashie,

The member thinks a BGS 10 and a PSA 10 are the same thing. He's quite out of touch with reality. It's a bit of a waste of time to argue with him.
