Looking for opinions
Well with the playoffs underway and going the to Spurs games all season, I am getting the itch for collecting again. I havent bought any boxes since Panini became the exclusive rights holder. I was doing a little snooping around on here and it seems as if people aren't terribly thrilled with these cards. I have always liked the Upper Deck designs although I know many people don't like UD as a company.
Anyways, here is my question. I'm looking to ordering a some boxes tomorrow before I leave to Atlanta all week. Figured I should be able to get the boxes by Thursday or Friday when I get back. Will drop up to $300 for some boxes. I like the excitement of opening packs but would like something of value.
Are there any boxes from the current year that are worth buying right now?
Or since I collect Acie Law IV, would I be better off buying some older 07/08 products for rookie cards and also with the chance of getting Durant rookies? (Lucked out when I first came back into the hobby last year and first box I broke SP Auth had a /299 AUTO PATCH RC of Durant)
- Follow up question if you suggest this: Which boxes did you enjoy in 07/08?
Thanks for any input.

WOW..good question!! Not to mention it's a question that brings out the bashers on BOTH ends..lol.
SO..w/that said..this is ONLY MY opinion. There will be more opinions to follow...lol.
I believe Panini hasn't done that bad of a job it's FIRST in. All of the sets and brands have mirrored it's baseball line up...so, they're not entirely new at this.
Upper Deck on the other hand...has TOTALLY dropped the ball this year. Seeing as how they KNEW they were going to be out this year.. which brings up another question as to WHY are they still producing cards if they aren't supposed to be?? Anyway..as far as I'm concerned.. UD = design + big name signers = HUGE PRICE TAGS. I'm not a fan of them myself.
As far as 07-08 product goes...well, w/Durant cards on FIRE right now..his card prices have doubled if not tripled..and so have the BOX prices from 07-08..so, be prepared for sticker shock when you go to buy a box from 07-08.
My BEST advice for you..if you're only lookin to get A.Law...buy on Ebay!! Post up a trade post here for them. I have seen LOTS of Acie Law selling posts around..only high end ones though.
Anyway..good luck in your search...oh yah..forgot.. I LOVED Panini 'Certified'. You can get it for round $90 & below a box. Lots of hits and the parallels are sweet lookin. Just my opinon..

How would you spend $300 right now between 07/08 up to current product?

Here's what I would buy:
1. 08/09 Topps Murad - Around $50 - Decent rookie class, great design.
2. 07/08 Topps Finest - Around $60 - Durant enough said
3. 07-08 Topps Chrome - Around $70 - See above
4. 09/10 Panini Limited - Around $110 - A bit Higher-End
There are other products you can spend your money quicker on if you choose to do so, but you are very rarely satisfied with those type of purchases.
GL!

You can get more Acie Law cards with just buying from ebay than open boxes. Unless you pull Durant or some good RC, it is very hard to move other low-profile RCs for PC cards.
