What is with the o-pee-chee updates?
They come in factory sealed sets now? Why would they do that? Now if you want to try and get more parallels of rookies etc. you have to buy set after set, am i the only one that thinks upper deck dropped the ball here?

Well they cancelled opc then they decided to just send it at as a factory release for all the set builders and kids they like OPC. I agree with you though its going to be a pain to get all the parallels.

yeah it sucks, i'm gonna buy one to see how it goes but i think they could've made more money and everything if they just made boxes i don't want to buy set after set of them to try and get good parallels, i believe there is still jersey's right? that's how it looks anyways. I think they are one in every five boxes, that's what the person on ebay said.

I don't beleive they're doing the Metal-X series 1 parallels though. I think your point still stands (it's going to be tough to get the parallels of Series 2 guys).

really you don't get metal x cards from the first series either? i guess that makes sense since it's a set, so i'm wondering if it is a set of regular cards then they just throw in 5 parallels as well or is it that 5 of the cards in the set are gonna be parallel's?

My understanding was they you got a complete set, plus a few parallels / GU / auto (whatever the 'hits' are).
So - If you pull a Retro Rookie of Tavares, you'd still have the base Rookie of Tavares in your set.

Only one parallel is listed on the Upper Deck site. They are doing "rainbow gold" only for the 200 cards in the update set. So, there is only one parallel to get and no additional parallels of the previous 600 cards.

The Update Set is being done as a factory set because pre-sales for the product were not particularly strong. They still wanted to release the cards (it would be strange to not have an OPC RC of the year's crop, after all) so it'll be a full base/RC set plus either 5 parallels or 2 plus & a GU. Unfortunately the scheduled hard-signed OPC Metal Signatures were scrapped (this may also be a contributing reason that they didn't do the standard release) so that's another area of concern. And yes, for the player collectors, this makes getting their 601-800 parallels that much harder to get. Boxed sets are generally lightly broken and people are less willing to break them up to sell individually than they would with regular box/case hits. There are still a good number of people that'll be making team sets & hits available, so hopefully those in the hunt can catch their prize.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I was excited about the hard signed metal cards. That was going to be a nice product and not really moon odds to get.

it's a huge disappointment that they decided to do this, i'm gonna give it one shot and see how it goes, has anybody bought one of these yet? i know they are out now, i'd like to see how they are.
