Gary Chouest has reached agreement to purchase a majority stake in the New Orleans Hornets from George Shinn who was the team's original owner in Charlotte.

Chouest is a billionaire businessman who made his fortune in the oilfield service industry. In recent weeks, he has been negotiating to increase his 25 percent share of the Hornets.
