Okay, I just saw this quote. I'm sorry for missing it earlier. Anyway, based on that quote, if you have specific cards in mind already then the best way is to buy those cards individually. You save a lot of money in the end. Only bust boxes if 1) you got money to spare and 2) you don't care what you get because you're not focused on a particular player/team/set. With SP Authentic, you're really only buying the box for the 3 autos. The rest are base and maybe an insert or two. What are you going to do with 30-odd base cards?
Also, what you need to do is peruse a bit more. Maybe you'll like what SP Authentic or SPx brings in terms of autos and GUs. But you might also like UD Black, Cup, OPC Premier, Ultimate Collection, SP Game Used. So, maybe start looking at prices of each, and look at the product breakdown of each and go from there. A lot of the times, it's better to save up for the card you want or the box you want than settling for something "mediocre" and hoping for the best.

Thanks for the sound advice. This is what I plan on doing.. however I really enjoy the thrill of breaking so doing this will allow me to quench that thirst and build on my collection at the same time.
I guess what it comes down to is just personal preference. I was looking for more of a collective thought on what you guys thought were some of the more popular sets were for collectors... however I think I already know the answers.... it's all relative to the person.
