    Kovalchuk's Future with LA Kings???

Love to hear other's opinions,... he would have a good fit there!

Also believe NJ Devils need a full on overhaul and new philosophy for exciting/fast hockey and build around Parise and Kovy,...

I really don't think he will stick around in New Jersey and word from the experts does seem to be that the Kings will make a serious pitch to get him. Wherever he ends up though, he will probably want to join a winning team after all of those years in Atlanta. Still think it's a shame that they lost the face of their franchise but if you can't ice a winning team players will eventually want to move on....

as a kings fan i say no thank you. not that i don't think the kings need a goal scorer, but they need to re-sign doughty, simmonds, johnson and bernier after next year and we couldn't sign those guys if we give kovy what he's looking for.

unless we can get him for a hossa-type deal i think L.A. should pass. or if somehow we moved out a couple of salaries (stoll and williams or smyth) then maybe.

but i'd rather try to trade for a couple of expiring contracts. some names i'd like to see DL target include Langenbrunner, Brunette and Kaberle among others.

As a kings fan also, I say no too. I'll take what dave is having plus signing Volchenkov

Volchenkov is looking for a $5+ million dollar long term contract, I don't think signing him would be in the Kings best interest.

I think we can. Frolov should be gone, and he takes up a few millions. I expect either stoll or Handzus to be gone, clearing way for Loktionov or Schenn, or both. While it may be hard to sign Volch, I think if Dean Lombardi thinks he can sign him while keeping the core in tact, he will do it.

no volchenkov. too much money. signing him means we lose either johnson or simmonds, maybe both. he's not worth $5M. would rather have Kaberle for one year at $4.25M and then voynov/hickey/muzzin will be ready.

trade moller/2nd round pick for kaberle - burke likes moller
trade martinez/ersberg for brunette - minny could use a backup goalie as harding is a RFA and a d-prospect

    smyth/kopitar/williams
    brunette/stoll/brown
    simmonds/handzus/richardson
    westgarth-clune/holloway/parse

    doughty/scuderi
    johnson/kaberle
    greene/drewiske-voynov

    bernier/quick

    yes please!

dont see a reason to pay pay kovi 8+mil when he has won exactly 1 playoff game in his career. i would much rather have marleau for 5.5-6.0 mil but thats just me.

IMHO, I'd be happy if he signs no one. I don't want us to turn in to the Sharks having a few guys paid a ton of money and then having to pay scrubs to play on the bottom lines/pairs. I'd much rather have a solid lines 1-4 and 3 solid d pairs and two solid goalies than 1 phenomenal line and everyone else be decent. So say bye to fro, don't sign Volch, Marleau, or Kovalchuk, and let someone fight for that 2nd line LW job or sign someone for cheap to play for a year or two.
