Canada beats Italy 5-1 win at ice hockey worlds
MANNHEIM, Germany (AP) — Steve Stamkos, Rene Bourque and Matt Duchene all collected a goal and an assist Saturday as Canada started its world championship campaign with a 5-1 victory over Italy.
Corey Perry opened the scoring after 2:43 minutes on an assist by Bourque of the Calgary Flames. Michele Strazzabosco equalized for Italy 10 minutes later, before Kris Russell made it 2-1 just 48 seconds before first period buzzer.
