Got my first real failure today:
Bill Self - Sent an email on 5/4/10 and today I received an email saying that photos cost $25 and to contact [email protected] to get one.
Find it kinda funny that Bill Self photos are $25, yet Coach K, Jim Calhoun and other much more "decorated" coaches sign for free. Oh well...

Today I got:
George W Bush Autopen (I'm assuming) 8x10 auto. I had sent an 8x10 from his inauguration w/him and Laura Bush asking if they could both sign it. Got a letter saying that they're sorry my specific autograph request could not be fulfilled, but they included their own 8x10 w/computer printed inscription and AP signature.
To me, this is a definite failure. Although I know that many people consider any response a success, I only consider authentic autographs a success. To me, if somebody sends me a PP or a AP, it means that they didn't get my letter, didn't read it, and didn't personally have anything to do with the response.
Anyway, I knew it was a longshot, but I wanted to try anyway and I head somewhere else that if you send something with both of them on it, it may get signed. I think I'm going to try to send the same pic to Laura Bush's office this time and see what happens.

So, over the past couple days I've gotten:
Tony Dungy - 8x10 Authentic Auto - My photo in my SASE
Bruce Allen - 5x7 Authentic Auto + handwritten & signed answers to a couple questions. - My photo in my SASE
Rubin "Hurricane" Carter - Received Authentic Autos on my two 8x10's that I sent him. I included an envelope and money for the return postage and a small donation to his organization.
So, I'm going to update the TTMM with Hurricane Carter's address, but I'm really not sure if he'll sign for free or what. I emailed somebody first, they talked to him and told me that he would sign things for me as long as I included enough $ for return postage. Also mentioned something about donating to his organization, but it wasn't necessary because he was signing as "tribute to my letter". I included a donation anyway. So, long story, but I don't know if he'll sign for free or if he'll want a donation.

I sent a check for $15 including the return postage money (which I have no idea how much it cost). So, I don't know how much the actual donation part was, but it was the balance.
