Despite Backstrom deal, RFA pool still attractive
BY: Craig Custance
Last year, it was Phil Kessel—the young, restricted free agent star who couldn't find common ground with his team and eventually left town. This year, we know this much: It won't be Nicklas Backstrom.
The Capitals signed Backstrom to a 10-year, $67 million contract that includes a modified no-trade clause that kicks in during year five of the deal. In other words, Backstrom isn't going anywhere

Yea im guessing that was sarcasm?
Hes 22 and just had 101 point season. This deal locks him up through his prime years for a pretty reasonable price. I would sign Backstrom to this deal ALL day

I wonder if Bobby Ryan is a good fit here in Toronto. I wouldn't be surprised if Burke made a pitch for him.

I think he'd be a very good fit.
How much do you expect he'll want?
