Clearly they need to keep the streak going - and make The Monster one of the /99 RCs in The Cup.

no surprise. all releases are planned months in advance. sometimes, they're able to switch it up and adjust the checklist and properly stamp number the cards. other times, the rookie doesn't become a star until the season is over.
best example is Steve Mason. never once in the most limited group of rookies and there was no way UD could have known months in advance how he would finish his season. he was doing better than expected all season but it wasn't until spring when you could take a step back and see that he led Columbus to a playoff berth and had 10 shutouts along the way.
conversely, some guys like Jiri Tlusty are just selected to be in the rookie group /99 to make the team's fans happy.

Sorry Sean but no thats not going to be third at least according to what i was told. Thats how we got talking about this. They were replacing some stuff for me and the employee asked if i collected any of the new leafs instead of steen. I told him that they were too expensive and when the /99 cup rc of the monster came out it would be way too expensive. Thats when he told me this story. He said at that time they were leaning towards JVR.

I just recieved a Sidney Crosby printing plate from the retrospective set, the upper deck sticker on the back has an mlb logo, and licensing small print. Are you kidding me? They didn't have any nhl stickers laying around to throw on the back... I guess I can't complain that much seeing as how I won it in a contest from UD.
