Lets Play GM
Ok, Here's the Scenario: The NHL just approved an expansion franchise. You are hired by the owner of the team to put a strong team together. For purposes of fun, we'll say this is a fantasy draft. You have your pick of any players in the NHL currently. If you were building a team of 15 players, who would your players be?
Here are the Rules:
Forwards - 9
Defense - 4
Goalies - 2
C'mon now, be smart about it. I know how easy it is to put the elite of the elite on the team, but we all know how that doesn't always work. So who would you choose? Here are my Pics:
FORWARDS:
1) Sidney Crosby
2) Jonathan Toews
3) Alexander Ovechkin
4) Jordan Staal
5) Milan Lucic
6) Paval Datsyuk
7) Rick Nash
8) Steve Stamkos
9) Mike Richards
DEFENSE:
1) Zdeno Chara
2) Duncan Keith
3) Dan Boyle
4) Drew Doughty
GOALIES:
1) Ryan Miller
2) Tuukka Rask
C'mon Hockey Folks, Beat that!

I won't do a totally stacked team; since that's not very fun for me. Here's what I'd do (off the top of my head)...
First Line:
LW - Alexander Ovechkin
C - Sidney Crosby
RW - Shane Doan
Second Line:
LW - Milan Lucic
C - Mike Richards
RW - Phil Kessel
Third Line:
LW - Dan Carcillo
C - Dominic Moore
RW - Ian Lapierriere
Defensive Pairs:
- Shea Weber
- Duncan Keith
- Drew Doughty
- Ryan Suter
Goalies:
- Tuukka Rask
- Carey Price
Obviously a bit stacked; but not overly so. Tried to sensibly put the lines together. So my third liners are actually useful bottom six guys. Moore and Laperriere are great at face offs, and killing penalties. Carcillo agitates. Doan and Lucic create space/chip in with offense. Richards and Crosby can do a little of everything. Ovechkin and Kessel can both score.
Defense is a blend of offensive, and two way shut down type players. All of them can chip in with offensive, and are reliable in their own end.
Goalies are just youth and talent.

Doesn't make any sense though if you're playing out this scenario b/c you'd be over your cap space with only your first 7 fowards...

I think you guys need to revamp this and go with 12 forwards and 6 d-men. Also, it should be 4c, 4rw, 4lw rather than just your best 12 players.
