Well, whoever has been hot in the playoffs, and the players that win the Stanley Cup will have their prices rise.

Stars in the making???
Here is what I have considered to be questionable "critisizm" and thoughts to "ponder" when maybe considering this question:
Most obvious; how that player has performed throughout the year and most important, during the playoff stretch???
Will that player have that sort of impact next year, and with what team???
As we all know...the playoff come down to two things; goaltending and special teams play like power play and penalty kill; key defensemen and of course goalies.
I'm sure we could all make reasonable arguements to support our player of choice, but for the most part...we can all agree that there isn't much better in this world than PLAYOFF HOCKEY!!!
Thanks for the input and comments,
Brian F.

IMO, Halak prices will rise, as Leighton, Keith, Toews and Niemi.

Toews, Kane and Halak have already seen a huge jump.
I am biased, but Toews will see the biggest jump - how long it lasts remains to be seen - he has been the best player in both the Olympics and the playoffs so far, which are the two biggest stages of the year.
As an example for Halak, my son's birthday is in June and he's a Halak fan, so in late March I started buying a few Halak cards for him - on March 29, I paid $15.50 plus shipping for his SP Authentic rookie auto - this week, there are completed sales at $31, $37 and $37.88. Last week, there were completed sales at $69.99, $53, $55 and $60. I saw that last week, his Sweet Shot auto rookie /100 sold for $148 - that is insane!!!
What's the lesson to be learned? - be patient in buying - don't buy when the player is on a hot streak
Subban has looked good and shown some promise - he's also made some big errors in his play - the playoffs are a tough place to learn, but he'll only get better as a result of the experience.
Who knows? Hossa might actually win a cup

Subban is getting experience, of course he will make a couple of mistakes, but for a rookie, he's just very good IMO.
Giroux is playing great too.

I have a feeling that this playoff run, combined with the possibility of Josh getting a letter next season, is going to make me very very happy that I have most of his high-end cards already. It will, of course, make it more difficult for me to get the ones that I am still chasing. *sigh* I wish he were still Montreal's best-kept secret and unsung hero. On the other hand, here's hoping that UD smartens up and gives him more than just an UD1 card next year. Are you listening too, Panini?
Regarding Halak, once the Habs' season closes, be it tomorrow or a few days or not until the last game of the season, things get very interesting. Yes he is definitely getting some short-term hobby love, but if he bolts or is traded in the off-season, all the Habs fans that dropped big dollars on his RCs are going to be stuck with those cards in their hands unless they're willing to take a big loss to move them. The salary cap situation in Montreal is a little perilous, so who knows what they'll do about their two young, highly talented goalies.
Finally, Mike Cammalleri is going to be a main PC guy for me starting next season. :)
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

You're right about Halak. If you're just into his cards for the potential profit, I can't imagine his cards selling higher than they do right now.
If they come back with two goalies again next season (there's still a good chance of that) or Halak is the odd-man out (traded, offer sheet, KHL... any are possibilies) the current sale values will drop.
