UD is killing me! REALLY long read...
I apologize if this is out of place/ off topic/ inappropriate here, etc.- please delete it if it is. I am just having issues with Upper Deck's redemption/ replacement service and would like opinions from others. Anyhow here goes...
I sent in a redemption for an Anthony Michael Hall unnumbered letterman auto out of 09 Icons Football back in August 2009. As you can see below, the original time table was 12-16 weeks:
Congratulations Heather!
On 8/9/2009 10:11:05 PM, we received your online redemption for: 2009 ICONS FOOTBALL MOVIE LETTERMEN AUTO // NO #ING CD # ML-AH; Athlete: ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL.
Please allow up to 12-16 weeks for delivery. We will send you an e-mail when your redemption item ships. You can view the status of your redemption online simply by logging in and choosing 'My Redemptions' from the My Upper Deck menu.
To verify your shipping address, log in and choose 'My Account' from the My Upper Deck menu.
When I had not heard anything by January I decided to contact UD and ask what was up. I was sent a response stating that the person had not signed the cards yet and offered the option of requesting a replacement, which I did. The text of my emailed responses is below:
Danny Granger- my main PC player; would love anything from him!
Ben Roethlisberger
Hines Ward
James Casey
Drew Brees
Reggie Bush
Hank Baskett
Thanks,
Heather

Subject: Redemption Replacement Request
Hello,
I filed the below redemption in August 2009:
8/9/2009 ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL 2009 ICONS FOOTBALL MOVIE LETTERMEN AUTO // NO #ING CD # ML-AH
Check back for more details.
8/9/2009
I would like to request a replacement redemption in its place due to the long wait time. I would prefer Steelers cards or Danny Granger but any comparable card will do.
Thank you.
Heather
So this was back in February. I emailed them back again a week or so ago because still no card and got this response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you so much for you patience with us while we replace your cards. Due to an abnormally large amount of requests we are currently behind and not making our timeframe we state on our website. We will be working hard to once again to get caught up and I thank you for your continued support.
Kind Regards,

Subject: card redemption
Hello, I am just wondering what is going on with my redemption. I requested a replacement over 3 months ago ( I originally submitted the redemption code 6+ months ago). The code isRYZBY3SB9. This is very frustrating, all info is appreciated. Thanks.
Heather
So overall I would have been waiting close to/ possibly over 9 months for a card from someone who is hardly marketable to begin with. Then they suggested that I try a replacement- which would be fine, don't really care who it is- but they can't even send that?!
I guess my question is was the last time frame I was given- the one where they said to allow 4-6 weeks- was that for the card to actually be sent out? Or is that simply the time frame for them to acknowledge the request in the system?
I am sorry for the long rant here. I am sure others have had much worse experiences but this is absolutely ridiculous! You'd think requesting they send a replacement would have helped- they could have swapped it for any (possibly) comparable card they had lying around right?
In any case, has anyone else had this much trouble with a lower-end replacement? How did you resolve it overall?
All info/ opinions are appreciated. Thanks for listening!
Heather

People have been waiting over 2 years for replacement. 9 months is not even half way :D Good luck with your waiting as some of us don't even remember we sent stuff 2 years ago.
I just do not like the company selling cards without the actual card in the pack or in their inventory. What if the company closes down all of the sudden, and those replacment cards will be just trash. And yet, they company gets to keep our money before making the product.

Thanks guys for the feedback. What I just don't get is why they don't just send SOMETHING when it is not a high value card to begin with :/
O well, maybe it'll eventually show up. Glad I have NEVER pulled another redemption from these doofs!

They really are way behind. After the layoff's last month, they are trying to pull double the weight with alot less employees.
You just gotta wait it out, it's really all you can do.

I never understood this, how can they sell a product they don´t have? Aren´t there any laws against this?
It´s like me coming here and sayin "hey look give me 100 bucks and i´ll get you a Kobe auto" and after you pay i say "funny story, i don´t have that auto after all, can we work something out?".
