    If you ran Press Pass...

What would you do differently, or what would you like to see?

    Me?

    1. I liked the idea UD had when they had piston ring cards. Perhaps try and adapt engine used parts into cards if possible.

    2. Eliminate some of the paralells. I like that we get, what, 5-6-7 boxes of cards a year. However, heck, even a guy like Speed will have 3-4 autos per box (not counting guys like Gordon,Johnson,Jr.) making it tough to get all of them and IMHO, devaluing autos as there are so many printed after all levels are counted (usually including an unnumbered set as well) (I just wonder how many unnumbered Danica autos there were made... 1000 maybe, more?). The same can be said about RU stuff.. just look at premium... 3-4 levels of Hot Threads? I don't know... I like having different levels and I don't but I think it'd be easier not to have to collect "rainbows" of so many different things.. And it ends up leading to market saturation... I'm just waiting on Danica's stuff to tank and for there to be tons of her stuff on the bay...Following this suggestion would also encourage box buying as autos/RU prices would go back up.

    3. Maybe take a bit of a page from stick and ball sports and add some prospects stuff (not prospect as in Cup rookie) but as in Arca guys/girls perhaps...

These are just a few of the thoughts that have bounced around in my big head... what say you?

Man, Nick, you have some of the coolest posts! lol.
If I ran Press Pass, I would do a RU/Auto'd Booklet like Upper Deck and Topps do.
On the front it'd had the Drivers autograph and the Crew Cheifs autograph on the back.
On the inside Id try to make it have all of the different RU pieces on it, and on the left side fold out on the bottom right, it would have the numbering.
    It would come in 6 'flavors': Bronze=#/150, Silver=#/99, Gold=#/50, Holo=#/25, Blue=#/10, and Red=#/5.
Itd have all of the top name drivers.
It would also have retired/deceased drivers (and the Earnhardt's wouldnt be just #/3 or 1/1 so more people would have a chance to own one).
Thats just ONE of the things Id do....well, to racing lol.

Yeah, I'd like to have more chances at Earnhardt autos but then again, that's going agianst my #2 suggestion as it'd devalue what was already out there. But at some point they are going to have to start hunting for things like signed checks and such like they do for Ruth (or so I've seen).

NO FREAKING PARALLELS-drives me up a wall. 1 at the most plus a preview is all thats necessary. Its gotten out of hand and makes collecting way too hard.

Id also like to see them try to do some 1/1 logo cards for the high end release-take a whole sponsor patch and make it a card-even if it does have to be an oversized card-and put it in the box of the super high end stuff-a Sprint Cup Series whole logo patch from each driver would be sweet-or a whole Aflac patch for Carl-id love it.

Other than that everything I suggest is nitpicky-and as long as the boxes dont exceed 500 a box (a la every other sport)-then im okay

1 thing Press Pass should do is add alot of the REALLY rare items to that years Press Pass Showcase.
Like the signed check pieces, they could put them as case hits and either do only the signed part of the check and make it a Cut auto, or put a little "Instant Win" card and you win a WHOLE check that that driver used and signed.
Some of the cool stuff Id like to see in Showcase and other products through that year is Entry Cards to win entire pieces of the car (Hood, Door, Wing/Spoiler, Rim/Tire, ETC) or even entire pieces race used equiptment (RU gloves, shoes, helmets, firesuits, ETC).
Itd also be pretty nice if they put more Earnhardt Sr. or retired/deceased driver autos in their products.
Like put the RARER Earnhardt autos in Legends and Showcase, and if they have multiple of the same autos from the same product that Earnhardt has autographed (VIP, Premium, ETC) then they should put 1 or 2 in random cases of that product.
Youd also get a little COA card (like they used w/ the Autographed Earnhardt 1988 Maxx cards) with any deceased driver autos.
Also, I like how they put the Spark Plugs and Sunglasses in Wheels Main Even last year.
Id like to be able to get rarer pieces like that, that you CANT put in a card.
    Just my $0.02

i agree with this. in all sports. a base card and 30 parallels numbered from 100 to one is the stupidest thing for driver/player collectors. that stuff needs to stop. and yes a logoman idea in nascar would be pretty nice.

and dalesr... i dig that idea of the booklet driver/chief auto. that would be sweet. send press pass some ideas haha

I like the logo/patch idea but in a 1/1 format, can you imagine the cost? If I were PP I may counter that idea with this one..

Why not make it a /25 series with whole patches off of the whole suit (still big pieces and whole patches but not just one). Such as for Speed, put a RB patch, the NASCAR Patch, His ROTY patch, like I said, all of the patches could be used, not just a primary sponsor, IMHO.

Obviously I also agree with your first premise.. haha

Press Pass should seriously have a thing on their website where you can offer ideas?

i think all card companies should. or have some kinda way to hear input from collectors who buy the products. they should make what we want haha
but really you should email them or send a letter. i dig the hell outta that idea. even tho i probably could never afford one they would be uber sweet cards none the less
