Brian Boucher Practices: Should He Replace Michael Leighton?
by Mark Ritter
hen the playoffs commenced, the Philadelphia Flyers looked to be in tough with Brian Boucher as their starter.
Low and behold, Boucher came out flying in round one, back stopping the Flyers to a round one win over Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils—looking every bit like a Stanley Cup goaltender in the process.
Unfortunately for Boucher, the ligaments in both of his knees were injured in round two against the Boston Bruins, forcing him to the sidelines, and in many people’s minds, ending his Stanley Cup run.

Only if Leighton falters. You go with the hot hand my opinion.

No, he should not replace Leighton. While Boucher can keep us in a game, it really depends on how the team plays in front of him and the quality of the shots he sees. I think at this point, Leighton is a much better goaltender. He can make those huge saves that you need in clutch moments, and I don't think that Boucher is of that caliber.

I will disagree with your statement to a degree. Is it not Boucher who got into the zone for close to 200 minutes of shutout hockey. He can be right there with any goaltender if he in the zone. Not many goalies can claim that length of shutout hockey. Of course as I said before go with the hot hand that brought you there Leighton.

Leighton. Glad to have Bouch back in reserve but you stick with Leighton until there is a problem.

With the way the Philly 'D' is playing right now, I don't think it matter. Ray Emery would look good if he were in net.

No, as much as I like Boucher, he shouldn't replace Leighton unless Leighton is having a nightmare.
